# FoodX Mission

Decentralising the food economy to increase individual freedom.

## The Vision

Building the food world to be healthier, freer, more connected, more rewarding, and less wasteful.

## Our Mission

FoodX is an autonomous food network that people, robots, and machines use to know, act, exchange, and own in the food economy. Our mission is decentralising the food economy to increase individual freedom.

## Our Values

**Open by design**
Build on open protocols and shared knowledge, so anyone can understand, connect, and build.

**Owned by the user**
People control their data, memory, and permissions. They can change tools without losing their history.

**Autonomy without surrendering control**
Systems work independently within the authority people give them. They never quietly grant themselves more.

**Trust through transparency**
Make actions explainable, evidence traceable, and mistakes open to correction. Be clear about uncertainty.

**Enhancing freedom**
We measure success by how much our technology helps people understand, choose, and act for themselves.

## The Four Freedoms

Ultimately, our mission is to improve the freedom of individuals as participants in the food economy.

**Know**
Understand where food comes from, how it was made, and what supports the claims about it. See what is uncertain, question the evidence, and make informed decisions without having to become a specialist.

**Act**
Have the practical means to turn understanding into action: use surplus, prepare a meal, or put an idea into practice. Delegate work to people or autonomous systems with clear limits and permission you can withdraw.

**Exchange**
Find willing partners, compare alternatives, and agree your own terms, whether buying, selling, bartering, or sharing. Be able to refuse an unsuitable offer without depending on one platform or route to market.

**Own**
Keep control of your identity, useful records, and the history of your work. Decide what to share, challenge inaccurate records, and change services without abandoning the trust you have earned, while respecting the rights of others.

## Charity Commitment

**25% of profits returned**
Committed to food-related charities focused on health and nutrition, environmental protection, and animal welfare.

**Current partners**: Action Against Hunger, Beat, Mary's Meals, Slow Food International, Viva!, WaterAid.

## History

For most of history, we wandered in small bands, foraging and hunting. Then we learned to cultivate grain. Land was divided. Surplus was traded. It became our first industry. And from there, the wheel, roads, and ships followed. Our food is a thread that runs through our shared history. And the story is still being written by the people of today.
